Dear old scout brothers,
I feel honored to convey my message to the official web site of the St.Sylvesters old scouts union.
At the college we all spent successful and happy lives as scouts with the time we all have separated now. Even though now live in different countries and cities. I believe nobody can forget the beautiful memories of our past scouting life.
I am pleased to inform you that now we have great opportunity to meet and cherish our memories in the old scouts union. As a group we should pay our gratitude to our college and the 39th Kandy scout group for the great guidance they had given.
I invite all the old scouts and old boys to join with us to fulfill our wishes.
Hemal C.Lokugeegana
President
St.Sylvesters Old Scouts Union.

As the World Scout Movement celebrates its 101st year of committed service, The Nation discovers the marvel of the Pedro Scout Training Camp, Nuwara Eliya – the largest training camp in the island, cocooned amidst the lush greenery of the leeward slope of Piduruthalagala
By Randima Attygalle,
On a fine day in the mid 1940s, British Chief Scout Commissioner Brooke Elliot KC paid a visit to the Pedro Estate in Nuwara Eliya, his ideal choice for an unflustered vacation in ‘Ceylon.’ A lover of fishing, he went to explore the Bamburu Ella and was transfixed at the sight of the grounds it enveloped in the shape of a horse shoe.
Astounded by its likeness to Gilwell Park, London, the ‘ancestral home’ of the World Scouts Movement, Elliot soon realised the aptness of Pedro for a camping site for the scouts.
With the support of World Scouting, Australia Post has developed a special range of products celebrating 100 years of Scouting in Australia. Included in the range is a Baden-Powell stamp pack consisting of stamps from Australia, Portugal, Uruguay and Papua New Guinea, and a Scouts stamp and ingot set. Also included are a Centenary of Scouting in Australia stamp and coin cover and a Centenary of Scouting in Australia stamp pack.
Following its foundation the UK in 1907, news of Scouting reached Australia in early 1908. The movement developed during the second quarter of 1908, when patrols started to meet, and then formed into larger troops by the middle of the year. The popularity of Scouting in Australia was encouraged by Lord Baden-Powell´s visits in 1912, 1927, 1931 and by the first Australian Jamboree, held in Frankston, Victoria in 1934-35.
